Un-installing USB support in Windows 95 If Windows will start
Uninstall by using the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel to remove the program named WDM/USB Supplement.
If Windows will not start
- Real-mode drivers need to be loaded for the CD-ROM and the file will have to be copied from the command prompt. To do this, restart the computer and when the "Starting Windows 95" message appears, press the F8 key on the keyboard. From the Startup menu, select Command Prompt Only .
- Copy the Rem.pss file to the root directory of the startup drive and rename it Remusb.bat. To do this, at the C:\ prompt, type: Copy D:\Rem.pss C:\Remusb.bat (where D:\ is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive and C:\ is the startup drive). Press the ENTER key.
Note: Rem.pss will be in the same directory as USBsupp.exe on the Windows 95 CD.
- At the C:\ prompt, type: Remusb.bat to restore the original files.
- Restart the computer normally. On your screen, locate and click the Start button. From the Start menu, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, remove the program named WDM/USB Supplement.
Note: This program may not be listed in the Add/Remove Programs tool depending on when Setup was canceled. If it is not listed, skip this step.
- Delete the Remusb.bat file from the root directory of the startup hard disk.
